The Helle Speider is a great starting knife for those who want a solid knife with good protection.
Speider was originally designed for older scouts who had enough experience to move on to a larger and more powerful knife. The handle in dark, oiled birch is ergonomically adapted to a good four-finger grip, and the solid fingerguard provides good protection when working with the knife. The blade is in 12C27 stainless steel with a thin, Scandinavian grind and comes razor sharp out of the sheath. It is delivered with a scout green sheath in leather with push button and belt suspension.
The Speider offers a mid-sized blade ideal for someone who wants superior control and protection, or for someone who is learning to use a knife. The blade is designed for carving, but works well for a variety of tasks. This knife locks into its leather sheath, making it more secure than most.
