An American Hunter. NY: Frederick A. Stokes, 1937. Hardbound in green buckram with pastedown labels on the front and spine (a small portion of the spine label is missing). X, 461 pages. 1st impression. Numerous illustrations by famed wildlife artist Lynn Bogue Hunt. The frontispiece, protected by tissue, shows a Rutledge in the prime of his manhood. He is dressed in hunting attire and holds the double barrel 12 gauge given to him by admiring students at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. This is an unusual copy inasmuch as there are two frontispieces. Book is tight, bright, and clean. There is an inscription to a previous owner on the front endpiece. Overall a really attractive copy. $160.
