The Northern Bobwhite Quail Colinus virginianus, is a ground-dwelling game bird native to Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Cuba. Bobwhites can be found year-round in agricultural fields, grasslands, open woodland areas, roadsides and wood edges.
Shy and elusive, Bobwhites will crouch and freeze relying on their natural camouflage to stay undetected when threatened, and will run or flush into low flight also known as a "covey rise". The sport of hunting quail is widely favored by outdoor enthusiast around the world.
