More Info:
Warmwater fish species such as muskie, pike, smallmouth, and largemouth bass provide some of the most thrilling fly rod excitement you will ever encounter, with the added bonus that they are almost ubiquitous—unlike trout and steelhead, which have a much smaller range. This book highlights some of the great species and experiences available to anglers, whether a savage strike from a muskie, a giant smallmouth crushing your popper, or the cat-and-mouse game of sight fishing to tailing carp. Some fish species covered in this book have endless information available about them, such as largemouth and smallmouth bass. Others are much more obscure, such as gar, bowfin, and freshwater drum.
In this book Kevin Feenstra, one of the country’s top guides and fly tiers, covers how to effectively imitate the baitfish and other foods that warmwater gamefish feed on. Matching Warmwater Baitfish includes stunning underwater photography of the foods the fish eat, guide tips for reading the water, strategies for fishing, and detailed tying steps for more than 16 patterns, including Chubelly, Flight Risk Crayfish, loadbreaker Sculpin, Rainbow Bender, Big Bad Rattling Shad, and more!
In addition, Kevin includes some of the respected guides and tiers from his region. They lend their expertise and their flies to round out this book.
